Power and Purpose: Roy Spence of GSD&M and The Purpose Institute

Roy Spence on Power and Purpose | Velocitize Talks

Roy Spence remembers when South by Southwest was a little party and people confused Austin with Boston. The co-founder and chairman of agency GSD&M, has seen the Austin scene grow and the marketing business evolve.

But things have not necessarily evolved in the best way possible. The country has lost its way and its sense of purpose, says Spence, who has recently reinvented himself as a promoter of purposeful growth through The Purpose Institute.

Spence joined Velocitize Talks during a break at SXSW  to launch a new initiative, The Promiseland Project. It’s time to promote the ideals that are being left behind in today’s culture wars, he said.

“We’re taking America as a client and we’re going to market the best of America to America,” said Spence.
