Google Home and Alexa are going to be crushing how much website traffic you get and people are just going to be getting the answers.

Neil Patel is Co-Founder of Neil Patel Digital, a performance marketing agency focused on creating innovative, adaptive and data-driven digital marketing plans. A top influencer in the field, Patel is also a New York Times bestselling author.

In this episode of Velocitize Talks, Patel shares his insights on growth hacking, omnichannel marketing and SEO.

Content and Creative (1:23)

It comes down to who’s the most creative. If you’re super creative and you can think outside of the box, that’s where you’re going to have the edge over your competition.

Creativity is also good for business. Based on McKinsey’s Award Creativity Score in 2017, the most creative companies tended to score highest in financial performance. In fact, 67% had above-average organic revenue growth. Additionally, well-written content and blog posts reported strong results.

Ad Lib (4:06)

Most companies are like Campbell Soup, like check out our new soup! Like like, like! Comment, comment, comment! Did it really generate a lot of sales for your new soup? Probably not.

In social media advertising, Patel estimates that around half of the money invested is completely wasted. He wrote a blog post outlining his data points and thoughts, including the utmost importance of SEO, social channels, and CRO (conversion rate optimization).

Search Me (4:59)

It’s all about user metrics. If a site ranks number two on Google but gets way more clicks than the site that’s ranking above them, what is Google going to do? They’re going to put the number two site ahead of the number one.

Patel’s blog features a tool called Ubersuggest which provides you with free instant information on your website concerning traffic, SEO rankings, top keywords, and more.

Video First (9:05)

If video isn’t adding value, if it’s not creating relevancy, you’re not going to do well. If it’s from your competitor, you’re building their brand, you’re not building your own brand.

According to Cisco, video accounts for more than three-quarters of all internet traffic. And by next year, video is projected to account for 82% of all traffic.

Find Your Voice

Google Home can literally connect to some ovens and can do things like, oh, you’re making a cake. Check out this recipe by Pillsbury, it’s rated a 9.9 out of ten by 6,321 people.

Obviously the way we search is changing. In 2013, around 66% of Google searches were conducted on desktop or laptop computers and 34% of searches were conducted on mobile devices. By the end of 2019, those numbers had flipped.

You Get What You Pay For (12:41)

The most eyeballs will win in the long run.

On average, businesses make $2 in revenue for every $1 they spend on Google ads. The problem is, 80% of small businesses don’t even invest in content marketing.
