Technology offers agencies a way to help build trust among consumers in the digital age, said Ben Howerton, co-founder of agency DevMethods. “The technology business has had some black eyes lately,” Howerton told Velocitize Talks. But new tools such as blockchain can offer agencies a way to protect data on the client’s behalf, he noted.
Another new tool, progressive web apps, can help create a frictionless online experience without apps, making publishers’ content shine. Social apps can also benefit from the speed and efficiency, he said; platforms such as Twitter have already leveraged the technology.
Machine learning can also add to the online experience, Howerton said. DevMethods has begun experimenting with models that can predict what content a reader may want to see online, he said. While they are still in the very early stages, he added “we feel like something that we absolutely need to pursue.”
