Welcome to Velocitize Talks Encore, a new series where we catch up with some of our favorite industry leaders and all-around awesome people who have appeared on Velocitize Talks. In this interview we speak with Jeremy Bierma, National Performance Director at Bohemia Group.

Bierma appeared on Velocitize Talks in November of 2018. Watch the full episode here.

Get the human part right and the technology will take care of itself.

In just one word, how would you describe digital marketing and branding today?

Experience.

How do you see SEO/SEM evolving in the digital era?

Google has built their empire through Google Ads and its mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful for the user.

Google is constantly evolving the experience into delivering information and making this more accessible in one place. Most likely, I see the future of SEM/SEO that this will be fully integrated within all Google assets available (Google Home, Pixel, Pay).

Google will continue to use data to empower decisions and become a part of our daily routine. Advertising will be blended within our interactions with multiple search engines. Google will become a competitor in traditional categories such as insurance, health care and banking to deliver comparison and increase their market dominance, and brands will have no choice to start advertising within Google’s product assets.

What do you consider the most exciting developments in marketing today?

Today’s world of global instability [will bring] rapid technological change, increasing financial strain and a rising tide of data and information.

It is well known that technology has permanently divorced audiences from media, and agencies need to embrace the shift from media planning and buying to audience planning and buying.

Audience buying will be largely AI-driven which means we will need to put the focus on audience planning and understanding utilizing AI-driven insights. Industry leaders of the future will therefore need to be a ‘human in a robot suit’.

My view on these exciting developments of today is to treat this technological transformation as a human transformation. The high value work of the future will involve us humans collaborating with other humans to design work for AI machines.

Why is your website an integral part of your company’s media strategy?

Your website is the single most important marketing tool for your business. It serves as a virtual equivalent of a physical business. Think about it: When you want to learn more about Bohemia, you usually turn to Google. Our company’s approach is to shape modern ideas which allows us to make our clients’ brands more magnetic, pulling the right audience towards the desired action.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Treat others how you want to be treated. It’s the human connection that counts and this will go a long way. Learn from people along the way (either good/bad people) to help become the person you want to be and make a greater impact on the people around you.
