Cache In: Optimize Your WooCommerce Site with EverCache

Site down. Two of the most dreaded words in the entire digital marketing lexicon. When your e-commerce website crashes—or experiences excruciatingly slow page load times—it could be because your site cache isn’t loading correctly.

Using caching, or storing, technology enhances overall website performance by reducing the load on the server. When done right, caching increases page load speed and, in the case of e-commerce, the customer transaction process as well.

WP Engine’s newest and most scalable e-commerce feature is EverCache for WooCommerce, its proprietary front-end system that extends smart caching functionality and automatically caches static content. It can also detect whether or not dynamic and interactive content is being served. EverCache, meanwhile, is fully integrated into WordPress so there’s no need for any other third-party plugins.

Smart caching is essential to WooCommerce as it increases speed, decreases page load time and is automatically refreshed. Most importantly, it optimizes site performance while enabling a smoother and more efficient shopping experience. This, in turn, has a strong impact on customer retention.

EverCache for WooCommerce

EverCache for WooCommerce loads 90% more pages than default WooCommerce exclusions for customers using the cart.

If your online store is on WordPress, you’re probably in the 94% of stores who already use the WooCommerce plugin. This open-source e-commerce platform works in tandem with WordPress to extend and strengthen your online store’s functionality.

EverCache for WooCommerce brings two sizable advantages to the table: incredible speed and scalability. Both facilitate increased page views and, of course, a more personalized shopping experience.

Without EverCache, websites score 88 in performance compared to with EverCache, which scores 99 performance.

Studies have shown that more than half of consumers will leave a site if it takes over three seconds to load. In comparison, pages that load within two seconds have an average bounce rate of 9%; pages taking five seconds have a bounce rate of 38%. In addition, WP Engine found that without EverCache, the closer a shopper was to making a purchase, the slower the pages would load.

With EverCache, customers using the shopping cart will be served 90% of cached pages. In other words, EverCache lets you continue to serve pages at top performance as the shopper approaches the checkout process.

In fact, close to 70% of consumers say that a slow web page will determine whether or not they’ll buy from a particular retailer. This is where the true value of EverCache for WooCommerce can be measured.

Need for Speed

EverCache determines when cache should be applied so it’s always optimized for speed. More cached content results in faster and easier browsing for your shoppers. It also detects and delivers pages that can be cached, adding up to 2x faster page speed. As a result, EverCache has the ability to refresh cache automatically and as intelligently as needed.

Cache Management

EverCache for WooCommerce expands WP Engine’s managed cache solution to WooCommerce sites already hosted on our e-commerce plans. This capability provides unparalleled speed and optimal website performance. Your customers will thank you for it.
