5 Best AI Content Generators for WordPress Site

There’s a lot of debate around AI content generators. However, as far as Google is concerned, AI-generated content isn’t necessarily a bad thing. As long as the articles or blog posts you create are helpful, well-sourced, and engaging, search engines might not care if they come from you or an AI.

In this article, we’ll introduce you to five of the best AI content generators for WordPress. We’ll discuss their pros and cons and talk about how much they cost, to help you decide if they’re worth using. Let’s get to it!

What Are AI Content Generators?

AI content generators are still relatively new tools. The term usually refers to Large Language Model (LLM) services, which can take a prompt and return the kind of answer you can publish on a website as ‘content’:

What kind of content you can generate, its complexity, and the kind of topics you can cover will depend on the AI tool you use. Some of these tools are not designed specifically with content generation in mind, but more as general AI tools.

That means the content you get might sometimes not be accurate or up to date. However, the ability to generate thousands of words of content in seconds from a single prompt can be tempting for a lot of website owners.

Many AI content generators offer free plans that you can use for testing their capabilities. If you think one of these tools can help you generate the kind of content your audience likes to see, we encourage you to test them out for yourself.

Keep in mind that your experience using any of these tools will vary a lot, depending on what type of content you want to generate and the prompts you give them. If you plan on using them, we recommend that you double-check any content these tools generate.

1. ChatGPT

Screenshot of ChatGPT, the most popular AI content generator today.

ChatGPT is the most popular AI content generator on the web right now. However, calling it just a content generator isn’t wholly accurate. You can use ChatGPT to help you generate and troubleshoot code, come up with ideas, aid with research on the web, summarize articles, and do many other miscellaneous tasks.

Still, ChatGPT can also assist in content creation. You can give it prompts such as “Create an article that explains how to replace a faucet,” and it will provide a complete piece of content almost instantaneously.

For the best possible results, we recommend providing ChatGPT with the most detailed prompts you can think of. That includes how long you want articles to be, what type of tone you want it to use, recommended subsections, and more. This can return results that may need less editing on your end.

In our experience, ChatGPT does a great job with most types of content, as long as they don’t require up-to-date or in-depth research. Even so, you’ll want to double-check any instructions or responses that it returns so you don’t publish wrong information.

If you want to generate content that requires ChatGPT to access the web for information, you’ll need to pay for a premium subscription. This will cost you $20 per month, and it also gives you access to plugins.

2. Perplexity

Perplexity is an AI content generator that can connect to the web.

Perplexity doesn’t require you to sign up for an account to use the service. You can visit its website and start prompting the AI right away.

Aside from that, Perplexity is fantastic because it can connect to the web. This makes it an ideal option for generating content that requires up-to-date research. If you try running a prompt using Perplexity, you’ll notice that most responses cite multiple sources you can check for yourself.

When you ask Perplexity a question, it also returns a list of related topics. This can be a great source of ideas for content that relates to the original prompt, and for expanding on it.

Keep in mind that Perplexity uses ChatGPT to generate its answers. That means you might see similar or identical responses to prompts. The biggest difference between the two tools comes from the fact that Perplexity connects to the web for free.

The premium version of Perplexity costs $20 per month, and it enables you to use an AI ‘assistant’ that can help you refine prompts and get better answers. However, the free version of the tool is the best option for most users.

3. Jetpack AI Assistant

Jetpack is an AI Assistant that works within WordPress and generates content using ChatGPT.

The Jetpack AI Assistant is the only option in this list that works within WordPress. You may know Jetpack for its family of popular WordPress plugins. The latest addition to its roster is the AI Assistant tool.

This assistant enables you to use prompts within WordPress by selecting a corresponding block in the Block Editor. Jetpack AI Assistant works with the OpenAI API, which means it generates content using ChatGPT.

Whether to use ChatGPT directly or opt for the AI Assistant will depend on what kind of experience you want. Note that the OpenAI API often doesn’t provide access to the latest version of ChatGPT, though.

For now, Jetpack AI Assistant is free. However, a lot of Jetpack tools require subscriptions, so we encourage you to try it out before it becomes a premium tool.

4. Jasper

Jasper is an AI content generator designed specifically for content creation.

There are a lot of AI tools you can use to create content for your WordPress website. However, Jasper is one of the few services designed from the ground up for content creation.

This difference shows in some of the features Jasper offers. Along with generating blog posts and articles, you can also ask Jasper to create images, optimize for search engines, and even follow brand guidelines.

You can configure Jasper to analyze your content to identify your brand’s voice, and use that for any content it creates in the future. This can be incredibly useful, because it will make your WordPress site’s content feel more like it was written by a single person.

All of these features don’t come for free, though. Jasper doesn’t offer a free version, and plans start at $39 per month. Due to its price tag, we only recommend it if you publish a lot of content and need help keeping up.

5. Content at Scale

Content at Scale is an AI tool designed for content creation with an emphasis on SEO.

Content at Scale is similar to Jasper, in that it’s an AI tool designed for content creation. However, this particular tool places a lot of emphasis on SEO.

Unlike other AI content generators, Content at Scale doesn’t require complex prompts. You can give it a list of keywords, and it will generate an article for you. More importantly, the content will be optimized around those keywords.

You can also point Content at Scale towards an existing blog post and ask it to do a rewrite. This also works for podcasts and even YouTube videos. The service can transcribe the content and rewrite it into a long-form article.

Content at Scale does its best work with long-form content. In our experience, it makes great suggestions for subsections in articles, and it does a good job at optimizing content for search engines.

If you use its WordPress plugin, this content generator can even add internal links to the posts it generates. The only downside is that Content at Scale is still in development and not open to the public, so you’ll need to request an invitation to test it (and pricing is still TBD).

Conclusion

Whether to use AI content generators or not is up to you. If you need help creating content for your WordPress websites, AI tools are evolving fast. If you use WordPress, there are even AI plugins you can use to generate content.
