AI content creators use machine-learning programs like ChatGPT to replicate human writing. These tools have grown in popularity lately, and many businesses are using them to generate social media posts, devise digital marketing campaigns, and more.

All you need to do is give the tool a prompt, like “Write an ad for an email marketing service aimed at CEOs,” and it will produce the requested content:

As you can see, AI content creators can be a great way to speed up your workflow. Plus, they can be a low-cost alternative to hiring copywriters or marketers.

Some of these tools include additional features, like spelling and grammar checks, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and image generation. 

Are AI Content Creators Good Enough to Use in Marketing Campaigns?

While AI content creators provide a free and convenient way to create content for your marketing campaigns, they do have some limitations. In this section, we’ll explore the main drawbacks of using AI tools for your marketing. 

1. Accuracy

One of the main problems with AI content creators is that the software is trained on data. Of course, if the data is up-to-date and accurate, you can expect quality content.

However, if the tool is trained on biased or incomplete data, then it will likely produce low-quality texts. Similarly, since AI programs rely on existing algorithms, they are unable to incorporate new information or current events in their output.

As such, you might end up with content that is outdated or inaccurate. This is especially true if you work in an industry that’s constantly changing and evolving. 

What’s more, AI content creators tend to pull information from existing resources and published materials. Therefore, if you rely too much on these tools for your marketing campaigns, you risk getting the content flagged for plagiarism. 

2. SEO

Many AI content creators can suggest keywords and implement these terms within the content to improve your SEO. This can help make your content more visible in search engines and drive more traffic to your campaigns:

However, depending on how you use AI content creators, you might get penalized by search engines. According to Google, any automated content that’s produced with the “primary purpose of manipulating ranking in search results” is a violation of spam policies. 

While Google is not opposed to AI-produced content, you will need to be careful about how you use these tools for SEO. Otherwise, your rankings might drop or your pages might disappear from search results. 

3. Creativity

While AI content creators attempt to replace the need for human writers, the results can lack creativity and personality. AI programs aren’t capable of emotional intelligence and critical reasoning. As such, these tools can’t provide opinions or even justify decisions.

Therefore, AI generators might not be the best option for some brands. If your business uses humor or colorful language in its messaging, then these tools are unlikely to meet your requirements. 

Additionally, as we mentioned earlier, AI generators are trained on existing resources. Therefore, they might not be much help if you’re looking to create fresh content and capitalize on trending topics in your campaigns. 

How to Overcome the Limitations of Content Creators

While there are some limitations to using AI content creators, there are ways that you can use the tools to generate valuable content. Here are some ideas for how to incorporate them into your marketing campaigns: 

  • Generate short or simple content. AI programs are a great fit for producing basic content like product descriptions, metatags, and social media ads.
  • Create templates. Since content creators generate objective content, they can be useful for creating email templates. Then, you can simply personalize the template on a case-by-case basis.  
  • Conduct research. Many AI tools come with SEO features. You can use them to generate keywords for your ad campaigns, then have a writer create content based on those terms. 
  • Proofread content. Human oversights are inevitable when it comes to proofreading marketing materials. However, you can use AI tools to run grammar and spell-checks.

In general, it’s best to use AI content creators to check or enhance your existing content. If you ask the tool to generate a piece of text, it’s a good idea to quickly scan through it before you publish it.
